FAIRPORT HARBOR, Ohio (WOIO) - An 18-year-old man confessed to destroying the books at the free little library and Fairport Harbor police said a “constructive resolution” was reached.
On Sept. 16, police discovered that pages from books were ripped out and thrown across a beach access ramp near Vine Street.
Police said with the help of a tipster, they were able to identify the suspect.
The 18-year-old admitted his actions, immediately apologized and then wrote a written letter of apology to the library.
Instead of criminal charges, police said the man will cover the service department clean-up fees and volunteer his time at future beach clean-ups.
“We believe this outcome reflects a positive resolution to the incident and demonstrates the strength of our community when we come togethe
