Over £200million compensation is set to be paid to 270,000 motorists over car insurance claim failures. An eye-watering 270,000 motorists will receive compensation over car insurance failures, it has been revealed.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has said drivers will receive a total of £200million in compensation over the failures. The FCA has carried out detailed work with insurers, following an initial review last year, which found that in some cases, automatic deductions to payouts were made for assumed pre-existing damage.

This particularly disadvantaged careful drivers who had looked after their vehicles and made it hard for them to buy like-for-like replacements.
