HOUSTON (KIAH) - For 19 days straight, workers represented by Unite Here Local 23 have been circling the downtown hotel, chanting, holding signs, and demanding what they say is long overdue: fair wages and honest answers from Houston First, the city-backed corporation that oversees Houston’s lucrative tourism and convention business and owner of the Hilton Americas.
More than a dozen workers rallied again this week, vowing they won’t be silenced. They accuse Houston First of shutting them out of decisions and keeping pay stagnant while the hotel continues to benefit from a steady stream of conventions and visitors.
