The Ohio Department of Transportation wants to remove a portion of state Route 297 in the city of Canton, Perry Township and Canton Township from the state highway system.
The proposed change would give jurisdiction and maintenance of Raff Road SW within Canton Township back to Stark County. The impacted section of road — which runs from Tuscarawas Street to U.S. Route 30 — would still be open to drivers.
"If you live on that road, nothing's going to change," ODOT spokesman Justin Chesnic said. "Your biggest change is going to be the (Stark) county engineer is going to be plowing the road in the winter instead of ODOT."
