JAMES ISLAND — A Charleston City Council candidate running in a district that requires collaboration across multiple jurisdictional lines may be off to rocky start.
Annette Begner, an event planner and political strategist, is campaigning for the District 12 seat currently held by Councilwoman Caroline Parker, who announced she is not running again in the Nov. 4 election.
Begner posted to social media following a Sept. 17 meeting criticizing James Island Mayor Brook Lyon.
Begner alleged that Lyon made several statements that appeared to offend Begner, claiming she was rebuffed for being a Republican candidate. But those statements were not captured in the video recording of the meeting .
