ABC's decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show indefinitely Sept. 17 following comments he made about the killing of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk didn't surprise local First Amendment experts.

"He has the right to say things that are wrong or offensive, and his employer can take action," said Mitch McKenney, associate professor and undergraduate coordinator in the School of Media and Journalism at Kent State University.
