Two tenants displaced after apartment catches fire

PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - The Peoria Fire Department was called to an apartment fire at 3510 N. Kingston Dr. around 10 PM Thursday night.

There, fire fighters found smoke coming from the second floor of the two-story, fourteen-unit apartment building.

Fire crews used multiple hose lines to extinguish fire in a bedroom on the second floor and the back of the building.

The apartment sustained fire damage on the rear deck, exterior siding, roof and upstairs bedroom. The apartment had smoke and water damage throughout the entire apartment.

Two adult occupants safely evacuated as the fire department arrived. Crews rescued one cat from the second-floor bedroom unharmed.

The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes with crews remaining on scene for two hours to check for hidden fire
