WEST OLIVE, Mich. — The Harbor Humane Society in West Olive is asking the community for help on Friday due to "an unexpected loss with a huge impact."

In a Facebook post, the shelter said the refrigerator it relies on every day for safe storage of its vaccine clinic supplies and extra shelter medical needs broke without warning.

When the fridge failed, the shelter said they lost $4,987.58 worth of vaccines.

"These aren’t just bottles on a shelf—these vaccines are what allow us to provide affordable medical care for our community, and what protects the animals we all love," the shelter said.

In addition to the vaccines, the fridge stores other essentials, like dog enrichment items that help keep the shelter pups happy and healthy.
