COLUMBUS, Ohio —
Ohio Lt. Gov Jim Tressel will not be running for governor in 2026.

It was reported earlier this year Tressel had been encouraged by support for a potential run, but in his post he said that "after considerable thought and prayer" he has decided not to run.
"I believe that our crucial opportunities in the areas of education and workforce deserve my full attention for the remainder of our term. My goal is to help finish the amazing work started by the DeWine-Husted Administration. Ohio is winning and it must continue!" his post reads.
He went on to talk about the administration's successes, including the "Team Tressel Fitness Challenge," aiming to help Ohioans with their physical health.
