A coward who tried to kill his girlfriend after she caught him messaging other women on a dating app will spend more than a decade behind bars .

Michael Cosgrove twice strangled his then-partner after they returned from watching New Order play in Manchester last year, a court heard.

He told her 'you are dead tonight' before leaving the woman unconscious and in her own faeces, as he jumped from a first-floor window when officers burst into her Stockport home.

Cosgrove denied trying to murder her, but after jurors saw through his lies earlier this year, he was sentenced at Minshull Street Crown Court on Friday (September 19).
