MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — As they convene for the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference, which is held every other year, Michigan Republicans are looking toward the 2026 election cycle.
There are some big races on the ballot, including for an open U.S. Senate seat and the governor's office.
At a panel Saturday, a few prospective Republican candidates will lay out where they stand on the issues. That includes former Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox, Senate Republican Leader Eric Nesbitt of Lawton and former Speaker of the House Tom Leonard. Former Republican gubernatorial candidates Perry Johnson, Ralph Rebandt and Kevin Rinke will also participate, though they have so far declared for 2026.
