A fatal traffic accident occurred near North Higley and East Brown roads in Mesa Thursday morning.

The accident was reported via a Mesa Police Department social media post on X at 6:28 a.m. Sept. 18.

The Mesa Police Department confirmed later that the collision was between a semi-truck and Ford Transit work van. Mesa PD said the van was traveling at an excessive speed and crossed the center line and hit the semi-truck.

According to Mesa PD, the van driver died and the semi-truck driver was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
