(KRON) -- What was thought to be an apparent handgun cocked by a suspect during a grocery store parking spot confrontation turned out to be a cigarette holder, said Fremont police.
The incident happened Sept. 9 on Fremont Boulevard.
"A victim saw a subject standing near a parked car and asked the subject if he could take his parking spot," according to a police incident log. "The subject yelled at the victim and retrieved what looked like a handgun from his vehicle. The subject appeared to cock the handgun, and the victim fled."
Fremont police said the suspect was later located and taken into custody.
"The item that appeared to be a handgun was discovered to be a cigarette holder shaped like a handgun," police confirmed.
