After weeks of chaos, Ashley football can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

For the second straight game, Ashley has a win. This time, the Screaming Eagles traded the one-possession nail-biters that marked the first four weeks of the season for a 24-6 victory over Topsail to open conference play on Sept. 19 in Wilmington.

"The kids are just fighting," Ashley coach Dante Lombardi said. "This one we can enjoy a little bit."

The Screaming Eagles controlled the rhythm all night long, jumping to a 17-6 halftime lead despite penatlites wiping points off the board.

Running back Bryson Lovelace continued his hot start to the season as the senior rushed for two touchdowns, bringing his season total to seven.
