FARGO — Anyone who lives in the region knows the weather can cause chaos at times, which is why now is the time to start preparing for emergencies.

Whether it is building an emergency kit for a car or stocking a house for a potential power outage, September serves as a reminder for everyone to be ready in a crisis.

Cass County Emergency Manager Cole Baker said disasters do not discriminate and urged residents to plan and prepare before emergencies happen.

"We're no strangers to that in this area, and going out there that's hard on vehicles. If your vehicle doesn't work, or you get stuck somewhere and you're trapped in your vehicle where it's 30–40 below and it's not working, you have to be prepared," Baker said.
