KINGSTON — On Friday night under the lights at Spartan Stadium, Wyoming Valley West held on and ended the program’s long losing skid with a 31-25 victory over Hazleton Area.
Valley West had lost 24 straight games dating back to a win over North Pocono in the 2023 season opener.
Spartans coach Bob Stelma was proud of his team’s never-quit attitude that allowed his squad to earn this first win, led by a three-touchdown performance by Malique Campbell.
“This is great to get the win at home to give the fans what they deserve, but this goes to the players,” Stelma said. “You know our record and most teams would quit, but we are getting these kids to come out and fight for every second they get a chance to.
