CENTER LINE – Marine City made quite a statement Friday night.

The Division 6 ninth-ranked Mariners – despite starting eight sophomores – put together a fine all-around game and simply stymied host Center Line to the tune of a 50-14 victory in a battle of first-place teams in the Macomb Area Conference Silver Division.

Marine City created four turnovers – all which resulted in scoring drives that ended with touchdowns – forced Center Line to punt four times and even stopped the Panthers in the red zone to end the first half.

The Mariners also held the offensive-minded Panthers to only two scores and 178 yards of offense. Center Line came in with a 114-40 scoring edge this season and averaged 38 points a game.
