The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) last night announced the official results for four council districts, which show that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate, Peter Mutharika, is leading with 50,131 votes.

He is followed by the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) candidate, Lazarus Chakwera, who so far has 13,139 votes from the four districts.

The results as announced by MEC are as follows: • Likoma Peter Mutharika: 4,177 votes Lazarus Chakwera: 1,817 votes
