PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A Portsmouth business is picking up the pieces after an overnight break-in.

It happened at Cooper’s Restaurant. The front of house manager, Candy, told 10 On Your Side she got a call about the break-in early Friday morning.

"I came on down here, only to find that the window had been completely busted out, and both of the cash registers are gone," Candy said. “Everything laying on the ground outside, glass shattered and broken. The first thing that ran through my mind? 'Well, who would do that? Why would they do that?'”

Between the window and the registers, Candy said the damage is worth more than $5,000.

"No one was hurt," Candy said. "It's property damage. Those things can be fixed. A person can't, so that's the silver lining in it."
