WASHOUGAL – Washougal’s Royce Jones is quickly cementing himself as one of the top running backs in the 2A Greater St. Helens League.

The senior running back rushed for 202 yards on just 11 carries and three touchdowns in leading the Panthers to a 38-28 win over the Woodland Beavers at Fishback Stadium. It was the opening league game for both schools.

It was Jones’ second straight game with over 200 yards rushing as he ran for 252 yards the week before against Prairie. He has run for nearly 500 yards in just three games.

Washougal (2-1 overall, 1-0 in league play) was threatening to make the game a blowout, as Thaine Sanders’ 84-yard pick six gave the Panthers a 24-7 league.
