The RCMP is continuing to search for those who are responsible for carrying out a scam across the region.

Officers say there have been numerous complaints about a grandparent scheme, with reports coming from communities including Cardston, Vulcan, Fort Macleod and Claresholm.

The scammers are reportedly telling victims to meet them at a bank in Lethbridge.

One person has been arrested in connection with the scheme, but the RCMP says more people are believed to be involved. More details are said to be coming next week.

Grandparent scams often involve the fraudster phoning a senior and either pretending to be a loved one or a police officer, judge or family member.

They will claim to be in some kind of trouble with law enforcement or the courts, and that they need help to make a payment
