LUMBERTON — I have always loved to see summertime arrive and, ironically, as I get older, I am almost as happy to see it leave. Summer seems to bring a sense of freedom, even a little more relaxed atmosphere, maybe stemming from my school days and summer vacations, but nonetheless, a happy feeling. As summer is winding down, now I look forward to fall with its cooler temperatures and crisp autumn mornings. Fall brings to mind images of pumpkins, hayrides, bonfires, our county fair and warm apple cider with brilliant hues of red, orange and yellow painting our landscapes. A cornucopia, also known as a horn of plenty, is basically what I want to offer here today.
