SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - The Shreveport Police Department is investigating a mass shooting that happened on Sept. 20.

On Sept. 20, at 2 a.m., the Shreveport Police Department (SPD) responded to a mass shooting call on the 1600 block of Poland Avenue, in the Allendale neighborhood. The incident happened at a large gathering of more than 150 people.

When officers got there, they encountered a chaotic scene and found eight victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Two people were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Six others had injuries but are expected to live.

SPD says that their investigation points towards that this attack was a targeted attack, and while the target was struck, their injuries were non-life-threatening.
