NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Monday marks the official start of fall, bringing cooler weather and color-changing leaves to New York City.

Will fall bring us comfortable weather for scenic views and Halloween fests? According to the Farmers' Almanac, we can likely expect a cool and dry season.

New Yorkers may see some rollercoaster-like temperatures for the first week of the season, starting out cool, then possibly warming up with showers in some areas, forecasters predict.

September will likely finish out with fluctuating temperatures and lingering showers until the first week of October, when we might see a full cool down, the Farmers' Almanac says.

The five boroughs may continue to see some scattered showers with cool and mild temperatures for the rest of October until things take a real dip
