Family, friends and Ghanaian community members gathered in Etobicoke Saturday morning to remember the life of Belinda Sarkodie, an innocent bystander killed in a July shooting in Hamilton.
Belinda Sarkodie was shot and killed on July 11 while waiting at a downtown Hamilton bus stop.
Her family in Manitoba and Ghana travelled to Ontario to finally put Sarkodie to rest – an event they never expected to be attending, said her uncle Paul Agyemang.
"What we would want is a good closure, a closure that our dear family member is given a befitting burial. A burial that we think is shocking to us. We're still in disbelief," he said.
Sarkodie was an "excellent" student, a "believer of god" and "a friend to everyone she came across," said Agyemang.
