LINCOLN, N.H. —

The Granite State is celebrating the 50th year of the NH Highland Games & Festival this weekend with the hopes of breaking a new record.

The event started as a small family picnic, celebrating all things Scottish, but now draws thousands of people from around the world to Loon Mountain.

On Friday, performers will attempt to break the world record for 'most pipers in a single performance. The current record is 333, and event organizers said they feel optimistic that the record held by Bulgarian pipers will be broken.
