The New York Mets came into the season with high expectations, but with the season coming close to an end, the Mets are fighting to hold on to a wild card spot.

The Mets' starting rotation right now is not the one they envisioned when the season started. Frankie Montas and Tylor Megill are hurt, Sean Manaea is coming out of the bullpen and Kodai Senga has collapsed after a stint on the injured list. Young pitchers Jonah Tong and Nolan McLean are playing a vital role as the Mets look to play in October.

Megill went on the injured list with a right elbow strain in June. He was on a rehab assignment, making his way back, but was shut down after continued forearm tightness during a start on Sept. 7 in Triple-A.
