BOONVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A community coming together to join the fight against the fentanyl crisis.

National Save a Life Walk & Hope For Warrick County hosted an event to raise awareness of fentanyl dangers and honor those who lost their life to fentanyl.

The event kicked off with a walk around Boonville City Lake.

There were also vendors and recovery partners in attendance.

One woman, who helped organize the event, says she did it all for her grandson who lost his life to fentanyl.

“I was just doing it in his honor. He didn’t want this to happen to him. he wanted to be here, and he would rather be here sober supporting the friends that he’s lost. It’s overwhelming. it’s touching, I can’t really come up with the words I feel for the outpouring of love and support,” said organizer Jean
