NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Tropical Storm Gabrielle is 540-miles north-northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands with maximum sustained winds of 60-mph.

Its tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140-miles from the center as it moves in a northwest motion at 13-mph.

The National Hurricane Center says that "this general motion is expected to continue through [Saturday night] then a turn toward the north-northwest on Sunday followed by a turn north-northeast on Monday."

The NHC adds that "continued gradual strengthening is forecast, and Gabrielle is expected to become a hurricane by Sunday."

The agency also notes that it is sending out the Air Force Reserve and NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft to future investigate the storm on Saturday.
