BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Bridge held its annual “Weather the Storm Triathlon” on Saturday, working athletes to the bone.
According to the Bridge’s website, for the full “Sprint” race, racers swam 750 meters, biked 12.4 miles, and ran 3.1 miles. There was also a Kids Triathlon, which included 100 yards swimming, 1 mile biking, and 100 yards running, and Super Sprint at 400 meters swimming, 6.2 miles biking, and 1.5 miles running.
12 News spoke to one of the racers, Matthew Spaulding, after he finished He said triathlons are a great way to fight getting older.
“I encourage everybody get out, just do a ‘tri,’” Spaulding said. “Doesn't matter if you're first or last or if you're strong swimmer, runner, biker, you put any two of those three events together, it's a multisport event.”
