BRIDGEPORT W.Va. (WBOY) — Saturday was Girls in Aviation Day in Bridgeport, where hangers at the Pierpont and Fairmont State aviation programs were open for the public to come in and have some fun learning about the aerospace industry.

Twenty-five local businesses and education organizations took the time to attend. Kids could fly drones, try out robotics, go into a flight simulator, and of course, check out the airplanes.

The event is meant to encourage young people, but especially girls, to get excited about the aerospace industry and maybe open their eyes to it as a career.

Tracy Miller, President of the Mid Atlantic Aerospace Complex and the Outreach chair of Mountain State Chapter of Women in Aviation International, spoke on the importance of the event.
