As we begin our fourth week of school, the slight change in temperature is foreshadowing an early Autumn. Leaves have already started to flitter down from the tree in our front lawn. As the days progress, students and teachers are becoming more acclimated to routines and expectations, and with that comes those harried moments when boundaries are tested, tactfulness is questioned, and character is revealed (and many times built). This can be said of any group in a social setting; however, school is a microcosm and intensely encapsulates the facets of a society.

So as the hours turn into days and the days into weeks, we carry on. Those harried moments are a result of life and living. In that context, I often think about some profound words Colonel Farley once shared. During one of our assem
