Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand has sparked a debate surrounding the Reds' start to the season after a 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford .

United headed into the game needing a victory and they started off brilliantly when Robert Sanchez was sent off for fouling Bryan Mbeumo outside of the penalty area. Shortly afterwards United made their one-man advantage count as Bruno Fernandes poked home from close range following Patrick Dorgu's header across goal.

The Reds had Chelsea on the ropes and added a second in the 37th minute as Casemiro headed home. However, the Brazilian went from hero to zero when he was sent off in first half stoppage time for a second bookable offence leaving the two teams poised at ten men apiece.
