BLACKSBURG, Va. —

Facing Virginia Tech for the second time in four seasons, the Wofford College football team was defeated 38-6 at Lane Stadium. The Terriers held the Hokies to seven points in the first quarter, but the Wofford offense was limited to a pair of field goals in the game.

Wofford opens the season at 0-4, while Virginia Tech is 1-3. The Terriers were led on offense by Jayden Whitaker with 16-of-27 passing for 142 yards. Ivory Aikens had four catches for 42 yards. Quarterback Kyron Drones led the Hokies with 27-of-32 passing and two touchdowns.

“We played a lot of young players today,” said coach Shawn Watson. “We’re hoping that as we move forward, having played a bunch of young guys will help us out in our season. I thought defense did some really good things at times today.
