KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Halloween Haunt continued this weekend with changes to its chaperone policy in place.

Now, every guest 17 years old or younger must be accompanied by an adult at least 21 years old.

“I think it would be a really good thing to keep the park safe for everyone,” said Tom Meek, who lives in the Kansas City Metro.

Worlds of Fun announced the changes to its chaperone policy days after reports of possible gunshots prompted a park evacuation. The incident happened on September 13 during the opening night of Halloween Haunt.

KCPD stated that there was no indication of gunfire in the park, and the sound was the result of fireworks.

When Kansas City Police and other agencies responded to the park on September 13, officers broke up multiple disturbances between juveniles.
