EUGENE — One player can’t save a season, and Oregon State ‘s issues go well beyond secondary depth, but newcomer safety Conrad Hussey showcased his potential in Saturday’s 41-7 loss to Oregon .

Hussey joined the Beavers (0-4) this week via transfer from Florida State , where he was dismissed from the team in August due to an alleged physical altercation with a position coach. Still learning the system in Corvallis, Hussey suited up but wasn’t expected to see the field much against the Ducks.

In the first half, Hussey nearly intercepted a ball thrown across the middle by Dante Moore. Amid injuries in the OSU secondary, he filled in admirably as primarily a nickel corner for a team desperately searching for answers on defense.
