Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has issued fresh calls for global "peace, and security and stability" as he arrives in the United States in anticipation of his address to the United Nations this week.

Mr Albanese touched down in New York on Saturday ahead of his appearance at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, local time.

At the UN, Australia is expected to formally recognise the state of Palestine, while a spotlight is also set to be cast on other issues including climate change and the economy.

Meanwhile, Mr Albanese is due to see United States President Donald Trump at a reception held by the US leader on Tuesday night.

However, whether the two leaders will have time to lock in a face-to-face bilateral meeting remains uncertain.
