The Kingsley Football Club has apologised after public backlash over costumes worn at its end-of-season Silly Sunday celebrations.
Three male players were pictured last weekend wearing wigs, footy jumpers of opposition clubs and a doughnut in a post on social media which was later deleted.
The outfits were in reference to the former coach of the women’s program and the football clubs that several women players joined after leaving Kingsley earlier this year in a mass exodus.
The exodus occurred after the women’s team coach, who had the backing of players, was told to leave the club after raising concerns the women’s program was not receiving the same support as the men’s teams.
