BARREN COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) - Volunteers gathered for the annual Lakeshore Cleanup Day at Barren River Lake, helping pick up trash and assist in keeping the environment clean.
One volunteer in particular, Eric Tartar, who volunteers for both the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Friends of Barren River Lake & Park has been doing it for about eight years.
Just in the month of August, Tartar worked 51 hours cleaning up, proving his commitment to serving his community and taking care of the lake.
One of the reasons Tartar started volunteering was to keep his family and others in the community safe.
