ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A local family is holding an event next weekend for the National Day of Remembrance. The goal is to bring people together to heal their pain through community.
"It is a day of remembrance of our loved ones," Andrea Aguirre said. "Not so much of how they died. It's of their memory and who they were here on earth."
Ryan Saavadra lost his son in 2021. He has since rallied a community of families together who lost children to gun violence, including Andrea, who lost her daughter Alana in 2023. Ryan is organizing this event with food and baseball next Saturday for families to come together for some fun and to heal.
