A beloved son who starred in his own Channel 4 documentary sadly died aged just 23 as he waited for a new heart.

Jim Lynskey, from Alvechurch, Worcestershire , was fitted with a pump that needed changing every 6-8 hours to keep him alive as he desperately awaited a transplant.

Sadly, he 'never got the call' for the donation and he died on the waiting list.

His story was previously told to the nation in the TV documentary 'The Boy with the 8 Hour Heart'.

Now, his heartbreaking story is part of a new campaign by NHS blood and transplant - a stark reminder of the "8,000 others" hopeful of a life-saving transplant.

His mum Collette said: “He made a documentary for Channel 4 called The Boy with the 8 Hour Heart and it shows just what he had to deal with in his short life
