SIR Keir Starmer today criticises populists who "exploit" the England flag to incite violence, division and threats to our democracy.

The Prime Minister states that Britain is "at a crossroads" and must shun the path of "division and decline", opting instead for the "patriotic path of national renewal".

In an article for The Sun on Sunday, he expressed understanding towards the frustration that led over 100,000 Brits to participate in the 'Unite the Kingdom' demonstration last week. However, he lambasted Elon Musk and Tommy Robinson for attempting to manipulate this anger to fuel violence, racial hatred and division on Britain's streets.

He writes: "I know what a source of pride our flag can be, and what it means to people."
