UK fighter jets have commenced their first Nato policing mission over Poland, following Russian violations of the country's airspace. This comes after 19 drones were shot down in the area earlier this month.
The Government announced on Monday that it would provide additional air defence over the eastern European nation. RAF Typhoons departed from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire on Friday night for this purpose.
The mission, viewed as defensive by those on board, saw the fighter jets , assigned the call signs "chaos 1-1" and "chaos 1-2", patrol the skies near Belarusian and Russian airspace.
No significant incidents were reported during the UK's inaugural Nato "Eastern Sentry" operation.
