RUSTON, LA — Down 20 points late in the third quarter, Southern Miss football found an opportunity. The Golden Eagles had worked the ball all the way from their own 13-yard line to Louisiana Tech’s 1-yard line.

On first and second down, the Bulldogs stopped running back Matt Jones at the goal line. On third down, quarterback Braylon Braxton couldn’t punch in for the score.
