Learning that beloved children’s author Robert Munsch has chosen to die at some point in the future using Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) may shock some, but it is not out of character. After all, Mortimer — whose name is partially derived from the Latin word meaning dead — was the boy who refused to go to sleep. In his first ever story, Munsch gave Mortimer the defiance to resist that “little death” we surrender to each night. Youth should resist. Life should be lived fully.
