The ALDI grocery store chain - which adds to its legions of fan followers each year because of its low-cost items as well as its so-called “Aisle of Shame” surprises - has made a change at some of its stores that initially took shoppers by surprise.
Some shoppers at ALDI stores across the U.S. reported earlier this month that the stores in their area had removed the self-checkout stations. This has left only the employee-run checkout lanes as an option.
Upon noticing this change, some ALDI shoppers took to Reddit with complaints about long wait times at their local stores. There was also a lot of speculation about why the check-out change took place.
