A 1-year-old child was killed and two other children, ages 5 and 6, were among four others injured in a crash in Maplewood on Saturday.

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that alcohol was detected on the 28-year-old St. Paul woman who was driving the Chevy Tahoe that crashed on the ramp to southbound Highway 61 from eastbound Highway 36 around 6:25 p.m. Saturday.

"The driver appeared to lose control on the exit ramp while traveling at a high rate of speed," the crash report from the State Patrol reads. "The vehicle went off the roadway and rolled into the right ditch on the ramp and landed upside down."

The vehicle was submerged in 1-2 feet of water.

The 1-year-old boy was "extricated from underneath the vehicle" and pronounced dead at the scene.
