The Penticton Vees ’ first home game in the WHL now has a little added momentum boost.
The league’s newest team, which is jumping up a level from the BCHL this season, recorded its first WHL win on Saturday, defeating the Vancouver Giants 5-1 at the Langley Events Centre. Penticton had its debut game Friday with a 5-0 loss on the road to the Victoria Royals.
The first game in front of the Vees’ fan faithful at the South Okanagan Events Centre comes Friday, when the Kelowna Rockets are the visitors. Fred Harbinson, who’s Penticton’s longtime general manager and head coach, is predicting a sellout at the 5,000-seat arena.
Penticton was a flagship team in the BCHL and a perennial contender in the Junior A circuit known for being a feeder to NCAA programs. When the NCAA announced it was
