Stephen Richardson, a contestant from the seventh season of “Love Is Blind,” has filed a lawsuit against the producers of the Netflix reality show, accusing them of failing to pay wages and subjecting participants to “inhumane working conditions.”
According to Variety, the class action lawsuit, filed in California Superior Court on Monday, names Netflix, along with producers Kinetic Content and Delirium TV, as defendants.
The suit claims Richardson and other cast members were “willfully misclassified” as “independent contractors,” despite the producers’ “excessive control over the manner, means and timing of the work.”
This misclassification, according to the lawsuit, should entitle contestants to labor protections under California law, including minimum wage and overtime pay.
