WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Mission Waco kicked off its nineteenth Walk for the Homeless, a two-mile walk around downtown Waco that aims to expose community members to volunteer and investment opportunities.

The walk makes various stops at nonprofit partnerships that address homelessness across downtown, including Compassion, Caritas, and Salvation Army.

“It’s really impressive as a city how it’s not just one organization but multiple taking on handling these issues in our community,” said Avery Abshier, Mission Waco’s mobilization programs administrator. “I think it’s really cool how we aren’t trying to compete with each other. It’s like ‘What are the gaps and how do we work together to fill those gaps together?’”
